Flipping through today's EMIRATES TODAY newspaper i was slapped across me face with one of my cross processed multiple exposed lomography shots i snapped in London's vibrant Camden market-summer 2004! AT first i was like WOW! how did this end up in here? ever heard of copyrights perhaps? or even credits? it was kinda offensive considering i wasn't informed about the feature or the fact that my shot wud be utilized as THE MAIN spread photograph on page 16. Although the whole focus on lomography story was fab i still feel like some of my rights were violated not a nice gesture by the lomography embassy in Dubai ! tut tut

Other than that i thought i'd list out the highlights n low lights of the year gone by! farewell 2005 in 3 days you shall be long gone >.< so here's a sum up of my journey through 2005!

- Art & Sole- charity fundraiser at XVA gallery and mercato shopping mall my pair raised around 1000dhs for MSF charity
- Appeared on BBC world middle east business report featuring my pink sushi fashion label.
- Interviewed for a feature in Time magazine international style and fashion supplement.

wow thats basically all the events i encountered in my version of the year 2005, i wish everyone all the best of success n productivity in the upcoming year have a wonderful 2006!! i think i've typed more than enuff in this final entry! so toooodles until next yeaaaaaaaaar! looool +fireworksss exploding everywhere+

CAREBEAR STARE

Lounging in my carebear cheerbear jammies i'm shunning my muscles +pronounced MUS-KELS by me+ cries of agony! lol i am sure ive mutilated numerous tissues n joints all in my strive to develop abs of steel! hahahah i think i shud just continue dreaming of them defined facets appearing one magical sunny morning! aaah well i've been toggling a number of tasks most enjoyable of all is developing a corporate identity for a brokerage company THE SERVICE SHOP! at first i was like eeeeeek! this is gnna be a toughie considering the nature of the business is quite tasking n serious. I must admit i was clueless about brokerage agencies i.e an agency specialized in helping foreign companies setup in the country and handling all the tasking registration paperwork. I sorta turned the tables and illustrated their service in a quirky manner using illustrations of toolbox supplies and sunny side up eggs let's just hope they enjoy my first round of proposals >.
Pink Sushi bags are still undergoing fine tuning in the operation theatre so they wont be seeing the light till another week or so i'll try to step on it for my drilling stockists! hehehe hmmm also i added some slight changes to my domain including replacing the tops n bags link on the main homepage with a fashion button the pops up my subdomain, hmm also my portfolio page has a new guest so do welcome ink associates into my humble portfolio. aightttttttt happpy new year in advance tooo the countdown has already struck!! 2005 was a hell of a year I hope 2006 is filled with happiness health and success for everyone! huggggggs

HYPER REAL

"Roll uP! roll up! to a world where pop meets kitsch, a carnival of colors and metaphorical hall of mirrors" thas jus a few lines outta the invite to OUR BIG SHOW! yupp Hyper real was masssive and stufffed to the rim with artsy nutcrackahs -including a chihuahua- glaring at the works of us 3 emarati gurly artists! It was our lil bright n colorful flashyy moments, a moment gifted to us by the buzzing new hip dubai gallery THE THIRDLINE! honestly our lil carousel of colors was quite extravagant +a dose of modesty is harmless >.< ey?+ The exhibit titled hyper real reflected the stories and realities in our artwork and our deep rooted emirati influences. It contained facets of mixed media whether it was limited 1/10 funky zealously embellished pink sushi fashion tee's by yours trulyyy / illustrations by gold/ animation by lamia gargash/ and experimental photography by lamia n i i.e my lomography work, polaroid transfers and emulsion lifts on doily paper ! All in all i am glad the gallery was packed and the feedback i recieved concerning our artwork was overwhelming. The show is still up so if anyones interested in viewing the exhibit all u hafta to do is drive down to the Thirdline's lil contemporary space n ponder about but do keep in mind the curtains will be hauled down on january 3rd !

The most thrilling part of the event was sharing my lil moment with ppl i care most about especially my design instructor and source of endless inspiration huda abifares! I admire her fondnesss for arabic typography and sense of design she simply rocks thanxs for being a part of hyper real +tighhhhhhht hugggg+ and alll da imp ppl in me lil life bubbble hind, a7my, sneezoi, shadsy, speedysarz, maisa, fashy, qurats, shuba, seen, nas, gizmo, al3nood, nof, mawazee and a special thanyou to coffee chocolate malls for making it to the show with her adorie lil gurlie gurl leyanne thankyou for being there it honestly made me show worthwhile.

I wont blab much about my displayed creations cuz its double the fun when u acually view the exhibit so feeel free to passby all smile special thanxs to our giant sponsors gargash enterprises, mercedes benz, shakespeare cafe' furniture n pattiserie, 7days, bidoun and hip fashion outlet >S*UCE! And finally giant huggggs n giant shukrans to the show organizers sunny, claudia and fabulous Lucy it was waaay beyond my expectations thanxs for rocketing our hyper real fantasies and thanxs for all the support/ encouragement towards local talent ! you guysss rockkkkk and thanxs for all thee free press n yummy marshmallows lol +endless winks+ aighhhttt ! Now i hafta to get back to completing the already delayed winter bags launch and creating some artwork for DIFC to add some vibrance n color into their restrooms eeeeeek X.x its gnna be a toughie so do wish me luckkkk!

ART&SOLE

A fantabulous l'il event with a great cause and fun rules n regulations, over 40 artists be it jewellery designers, fashion designers, painters, or simply individuals with a kick for creativity all conjoined at the XVA gallery last night under the twinkly stars to gaze in awe at the funky customized shoes provided by quirky shoe store PrettyFIT! The silent auction was buzzing with colors, press, energy and art afficianados all in aid of Medecin Sans Frontieres.

Some of the artists truly went out of the box transforming their pairs into breathtaking giant sculptures, sharks, Chests of gold and Photographs. Each shoe though reflected its creator in its own special way whether it was totesweet's bright flats, samsoomah's folak wacky wedges or gold's abundance crocheted flower trimmed pair. A great show topped with 2 giant chocolate fondue fountains for all of us to dive in lolzz

beneath are shots of some of the intriguing pairs on display there were tons n tons but i managed to snap these ones lol! It was great socializing n meeting up with ppl who heart pinksushi the fashion label. One of the ladies even slapped me a HI-five and it just felt wonderful.. I have to send out a few special thankyou's to Lilmia for being there so sooo thoughtful of you hugggggggg. ingrid for organizing the event and being so adorable, Eden for sending out the invites, Timeout dubai and viva magazine for featuring my shoesies! Thankyouuu a billlionnnn! awww +flys off in her 3libaba pants+ kittywitty just heaaaaaaaaarts them don't ya ;p

BLEACH

Ever dig about for the perfect pair of distressed abused torn up pair of denims n fail to find them? Well, consider those attempts to search for that golden pair of jeans long gone! i did a bIt of research online and found out a few DIY tips on how to distress any pair of jeans you own and voila i gave it a shot n it worked like magic ! a piece of cake! Now its your turn to give it a shot tooo yeeeeeeeeeah! ur own worn out, bleached out n tattered denims created by non other than yourself LOL! so here goes my version of instructions on how to transfer your jeans into covetable one-off 2die4 ripped up denims ! let me know how ur attempts go!

Tools:: X-ACTO knife, Clorox Bleach, Toothbrush, Dark colored Jeans, ScissorsTechnique::
A. First grab a pair of darkcolored jeans "i went for an ancient long mng black denim skirt i had". Next grab ur scissors n rip through the fabric getting rid of any elements you dislike eg. backpockets, belt loops, labels, n shorten your item to the length you desire .

B. Using an X-ACTO blade knife scrub against the hem lines, the stitches, the pocket edges and dig through the fabric to reveal tattered unruly threads.

C. Get ur bottle of clorox remeber these chemicals can be quite harmful so use gloves if u wish and avoid contact with eyes! Start dipping ur toothbrush into the liquid and paint it onto ur denims as per your desire, remember the parts u wash with the bleaching liquid will transform white! also you can pass ur fingers across the brush to splatter bleach onto the fabric. Go crazy with it and just abuse those denims! you could perhaps do some sponging by dabbing the fabric with a sponge dipped in bleach !

D. Grab the jeans that will by now stink of a swimming pool and dump it in the sun for a few hrs to dry in order to get rid of the strong stench

E. SLIP INTO UR PAIR OF DENIMS AND be the envy of everyone in the freeej! hahahahah! thats all there is to it! yup you're all set to rock the show now!

oooh n b4 i forget the prettyfit charity auction takes place on the 7th of dec at the xva gallery both of my pairs along with the rest of the 40 pair of shoes will be on sale and the money raised will be donated in aid of MSF! everyone can come along n join the fun! Also, a few of the pairs are on exhibit now at Mercato shopping mall do passby n check out our shoesies some of the designers went way beyond the box and transformed their pairs into sculptures! so intriguing actually to see everyones creations. Oh well, all the best and HAPPPY NATIONAL DAY ALLL! HAVE A BLAST and enjoy your holidaysss passes out bling'd uae flags! don't you just HEART OUR U.A.E god protect our country always n forevahh..
